วันอังคารที่ 3 มีนาคม 2569 มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง (มฟล.) เข้าร่วมงานสืบสานประเพณีนมัสการและสรงน้ำพระธาตุดอยตุง ประจำปี 2569 ภายใต้ชื่องาน "2,008 ปีสืบมา หกเป็งล่องฟ้าไหว้สาพระธาตุดอยตุง" ณ วัดพระธาตุดอยตุง อำเภอแม่สาย จังหวัดเชียงราย โดยมีจังหวัดเชียงรายเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงาน

งานเริ่มต้นด้วยพิธีทำวัตรสวดมนต์เช้าและเจริญจิตภาวนา ก่อนเข้าสู่พิธีทำบุญตักบาตรข้าวสารอาหารแห้ง โดยมีนายชูชีพ พงษ์ไชย ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเชียงรายเป็นประธานในพิธี พร้อมด้วยหัวหน้าส่วนราชการ คณะพุทธศาสนิกชน และภาคส่วนต่าง ๆ ร่วมพิธีอย่างพร้อมเพรียง จากนั้นได้มีพิธีบวงสรวงพระธาตุดอยตุง โดยพราหมณ์ประกอบพิธีตามโบราณราชประเพณี

กิจกรรมสำคัญมีการตั้งขบวนแห่เครื่องสักการะอันยิ่งใหญ่ตระการตา นำโดยขบวนเชิญน้ำสรงพระราชทานและผ้าไตรพระราชทานในพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินี และสมเด็จพระกนิษฐาธิราชเจ้า กรมสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ตามด้วยขบวนเครื่องสักการะหลวง ขบวนฟ้อนหางนกยูง ขบวนชาติพันธุ์ และขบวนแห่จากส่วนราชการทั้ง 18 อำเภอของจังหวัดเชียงราย

พิธีสืบชะตาหลวงล้านนาโดยพระสงฆ์ทรงสมณศักดิ์ 10 รูปเจริญพระพุทธมนต์ ถือเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของงาน ก่อนเข้าสู่พิธีนมัสการและสรงน้ำพระธาตุดอยตุง ซึ่งผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเชียงรายได้สรงน้ำพระราชทานแด่องค์พระธาตุ และนำแขกผู้มีเกียรติร่วมห่มผ้าพระธาตุดอยตุง ท่ามกลางเสียงพระสงฆ์เจริญชัยมงคลคาถา ลั่นฆ้องชัย 9 ครั้ง

มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวงเข้าร่วมงานประเพณีอันทรงคุณค่านี้ เพื่อเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการส่งเสริม อนุรักษ์ และสืบทอดมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมของภาคเหนือและจังหวัดเชียงราย ให้คงอยู่สืบไปสู่คนรุ่นหลัง

MFU Joins 2026 Doi Tung Relic Veneration and Ritual Water-Pouring Ceremony in Chiang Rai

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) took part in the 2026 Doi Tung Relic Venerationand Ritual Water Pouring Ceremony, joining provincial leaders, monastic authorities, and Buddhist devotees from across Chiang Rai Province in honoring one of Northern Thailand's most revered Lanna traditions—an observance that traces its history back 2,008 years..

Held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Wat Phra That Doi Tung in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, the ceremony was organized under the theme "2,008 Years of Legacy: Hok Peng Long Fah, Homage to Phra That Doi Tung" with Chiang Rai Province serving as host.

The ceremony opened with morning chanting and meditation, followed by a merit-making alms offering, presided over by Mr. Chucheep Phongchai, Governor of Chiang Rai Province. Senior government officials, members of the Sangha, and representatives from various sectors participated in the rites. A Brahmin-led ceremonial offering to the sacred relic was subsequently conducted in accordance with ancient royal custom, reflecting the layered spiritual heritage that characterizes Northern Thai culture.

A highlight of the celebration was the grand procession bearing royal offerings, led by the royally bestowed water and monastic robes graciously granted by His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The procession featured traditional peacock dance performances, representatives of local ethnic communities, and delegations from all 18 districts of Chiang Rai Province, offering a vivid reflection of the region's cultural diversity and heritage.

At the heart of the ceremony was the Lanna Sueb Chata rite — a traditional life-prolonging blessing performed by ten senior monks who chanted sacred verses. The Governor then performed the ritual pouring of the royally granted water over the pagoda enshrining the sacred relic and invited distinguished guests to participate in the ceremonial draping of cloth around Phra That Doi Tung. The chanting of auspicious blessings and the sounding of the victory gong nine times marked the culmination of the sacred proceedings. .
By engaging in this revered annual observance, MFU stands alongside local institutions and faith communities in honoring and sustaining the cultural and spiritual heritage of Northern Thailand for future generations.
